Welcome to 321 Magellan Ave, Half Moon Bay
The Living Room
The house was designed to maximize light and views of the ocean, and the living room shows this better than anywhere else.
In winter you can watch the sun set over the ocean from this room, turning the walls red.
Other features:
12 recessed lights in the ceiling with Phillips Hue bulbs and switches to cycle through scenes.
Working fireplace.
Samsung Frame TV above the fireplace, and another digital art frame opposite, letting you select an art theme for the room.
The Kitchen
Large kitchen with lots of space to entertain, and a central island that seats four.
We just added a brand new GE Fridge and a Bosch dishwasher.
Other features:
All appliances are in excellent condition.
Stove is Samsung NX58H9500WS.
Microwave is GE JES1656SR2SS.
Garbage disposal in the sink.
Lots of cupboard space, and a wine room / pantry nearby.
Things to know:
Light scratches on the right door of the fridge.
The Family Room
Gorgeous, well lit room that works well as workspace, family room, or movie room after dark.
With a 120” projector wall, the setup for movies is so good that we once had a projector manufacturer shoot a commercial here.
Other features:
Working fireplace.
Ocean views.
Hand painted mural of local flora.
Furniture and projector available to purchase if desired.
The Master Bedroom
Ocean views, a ton of light, private balcony and walk in closet.
Other features:
Second clothes closet with drawers and lots of hanger space.
Third cupboard with shelving.
Things to know:
The master closet currently has a security lock on it, as it’s where we kept our things during rentals. This can be removed.
The Master Bathroom
This room was redesigned and built from scratch in 2020. We used natural colors and shapes throughout, inspired by the water and forest around us.
Other features:
72” Kohler bathtub with heated bubble massage.
Toto toilet with built in bidet.
Beautiful large shower with Kohler fixtures.
Chroma Bubble Pendant lighting.
Things to know:
Hot water takes a while to get up to this room. We were told by our plumber that the pipes can be rerouted under the home to make this much faster, but that work hasn’t been done.
The Dining Room
A striking blue accent wall and views of the forest, this room connects directly to the kitchen.
Other features:
The furniture in this room is available for purchase: Sonali table, 12 Boro Stripe Seneca chairs, Persian rug and a chandelier made from coconut shells.
The Deck
Accessible from the kitchen and living room, there are clear views of the ocean and forest from the deck.
The hot tub fits 6 people, and has lights and jets. At night you can often see the Milky Way overhead while you soak.
Other features:
Softub Portico fits six people. Runs on a dedicated circuit, and deck is reinforced beneath.
Phillips Hue strip lighting along the base of the railings, for ambient outdoor lights.
Two outdoor heaters can be left with the house also.
Deck was recently refinished (photos are not updated).
Things to know:
The railings are wooden, and have varying degrees of rot due to coastal weather. We’ve repaired and replaced areas of the railing as needed, and this will continue to be necessary.
The Gardens
Well maintained yards both front and back, with new redwood fencing and gates on three sides.
Other features:
Rose trellis at the entrance to the property.
Pass through garage to the gravel area in the back yard.
Smart sprinkler system that adapts to the precise weather conditions.
Fully enclosed and safe for pets. We have a dog door attachment for the patio door that can be left with the house if desired.
Things to know:
The fourth side of the fencing belongs to our property and will need replacing in the coming years.
The Upstairs Bedrooms
Two additional rooms across the hall from the master bedroom, both looking out into the forest.
Other features:
Large closets in both rooms.
Plush, memory foam carpeting in the room with the bunk beds.
Additional full bathroom available for these bedrooms, so master bath is private.
Things to know:
The hand carved Indonesian bed and bone inlay side tables are likely not available for purchase, we are going to try to find a way to take them with us.
The windows in these rooms need their hinges replaced.
The Office
Serving as a guest room or dedicated bedroom, this room was designed primarily as an office. The interior glass looks down over the living room, with clear views of the water and a private balcony overlooking the forest.
Other features:
Large closet with shelving and power for office supplies. Could be easily used for clothes too.
High quality glass whiteboard.
Things to know:
The window hinges were recently replaced, but the mechanism is still quite stiff and the window can be tricky to close.
The Downstairs Suite
With separate access via the garage, a kitchenette, and even a Murphy door, the downstairs suite provides excellent privacy. We ran this unit as its own AirBnB for a while, while we lived in the rest of the house above.
Through the bookcase, there’s a large playroom with a projector setup.
Other features:
Smart TV currently installed in the closet opposite the bed.
Kitchenette with fridge.
Large additional closet behind the mirrors.
Bookcase Murphy door between the two rooms.
High quality speakers and projector system can be left with the house if desired.
Things to know:
The window hinges were recently replaced, but the mechanism is still quite stiff and the window can be tricky to close.
This room is colder than the rest of the house and we run a space heater here if someone is staying when it’s cold.
We have a dehumidifier and fan system to manage the humidity, which can get high otherwise.
